Update on Rich - it's a great day!

Just a quick note - as most of you knew, in June, Rich had a high PSA and in October we learned he had prostate cancer. A week ago Monday he had a robotic prostatectomy and we learned today the results of the biopsy. The margins (edges) of the prostate were clean, which indicates that the cancer hadn't gotten to the outside of the prostate, and the lymph nodes showed negative! What an incredible relief after seven months of incredible stress.

We still have some hurdles to get over - there is a problem with the reattachment of the ureter to the bladder. It isn't healing the way it should, so the catheter stays in for as much as three more weeks. If it doesn't heal, then Rich could be looking at more surgery :( But, having a catheter for another couple or three weeks is a small price to pay to be cancer free!
